Knights take down Rams in 5 for first conference win

MINNEAPOLIS — Martin Luther College rolled North Central University 13-2 in five innings Friday in an Upper Midwest Athletic Conference softball game.

The game was called after five innings due to the 10-run lead rule.

It was the Knights’ first win since March 7 against Albion College and snapped an 11-game losing streak.

Jessica Horn got the win for MLC, striking out five while allowing seven hits and two earned runs. At the plate for the Knights, Horn was 3 for 5 with an RBI and a stolen base, while Lisa Hoffer was 2 for 5 with two runs, two RBIs, a double and a triple. Sarah Yonkovich added two hits, three RBIs and a run scored, while Jordyn Heckendorf added two doubles and two runs scored. Emma Mindock had a hit and two RBIs.

MLC (3-21, 1-9) play at North Central again in a doubleheader on Saturday.
