Area roundup: Madelia softball, baseball teams cruise by Coyotes

PREP SOFTBALL

Madelia 21, HLO/F 3 (4 innings)

OKABENA — Madelia rolled to a 21-3 win over Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda in four innings in a nonconference softball game on Friday.

The game was called after four innings due to the 15-run rule.

Corban Tatro got the win in the circle for Madelia in three innings, allowing four hits and a walk for three earned runs while striking out four. Makayla Sorenson pitched a perfect inning in relief and struck out two.

Tatro also led the way for Madelia at the plate, going 4 for 4 with a double and four RBIs.

Sorenson also was 4 for 5 with a double, three RBIs and three runs scored, while Veronica Ibeling was 4 for 5 with a double, an RBI and four runs scored.

Also for Madelia, Lauryn Grev was 3 for 4 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored, while Alicia Lugo was 1 for 2 with two RBIs and two runs scored, Janelle Callejas was 1 for 2 with two RBIs and two runs scored and Kellie Koberoski was 1 for 2 with two runs scored. Madelyn Lehman took two walks, had two RBIs and scored two runs for the Blackhawks.

Madelia is at Minnesota Valley Lutheran for a 4:30 p.m. game Tuesday.

PREP BASEBALL

Madelia 12, HLO 1 (6 innings)

OKABENA — Madelia took down Heron Lake-Okabena 12-1 in six innings in a nonconference baseball game on Friday.

The game was called after six innings due to the 10-run lead rule.

Tony Zaleski earned the win for the Blackhawks, throwing 12 strikeouts while allowing two hits and one earned run in five innings. At the plate, Zach Jacobs was 2 for 4 with two RBIs, while Tate Becker was 2 for 3 with three RBIs. Eric Anderson was 2 for 3 with two runs scored, while Noel Davila had a hit and three RBIs.

Madelia hosts St. Clair on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
