TEL Roundup: Sleepy Eye nabs 1st win in TEL with 6-3 win over Searles

SLEEPY EYE — The Sleepy Eye Indians picked up their first Tomahawk East League amateur baseball win of the season on Sunday with a 6-3 win over the Searles Grizzlies.

Alan Woitas led the Indians at the plate, going 3 for 5 with two runs scored, while Jake Mielke was 2 for 3 and Caleb Berg was 2 for 5 with a double. Matt Mielke also had a triple, an RBI and two runs scored for Sleepy Eye.

Jake Mielke got the win in three innings of relief for Sleepy Eye, allowing two hits and a walk for no runs while striking out four.

Mike Schlottman was 2 for 3 with an RBI for Searles, while Kedar Schmitz was 2 for 3 with a double, Graham Glaser was 2 for 4 with two runs scored and Landon Barstad was 2 for 5 with a double.

Nick Dewanz took the loss in four innings of relief, allowing five hits and a walk for two earned runs while fanning three.

Essig 17, Fairfax 11

FAIRFAX — The Essig Bluejays topped the Fairfax Cardinals 17-11 on Sunday in a Tomahawk East League amateur baseball game.

Nick Stadick was 3 for 4 with a double, four RBIs and three runs scored to lead Essig, while Hunter Sehr was 3 for 4 with two runs scored, Erich Prokosch was 3 for 5 with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored and Jake Stadick was 3 for 6 with four RBIs and two runs scored.

Sehr got the win in five innings for the Bluejays, pitching five innings and allowing eight hits and three walks for four earned runs while fanning eight.

Jacob Meyer led Fairfax at the plate, going 4 for 6 with two runs scored, while Isaac Louwagie was 3 for 5 with two doubles, two RBIs and three runs scored, while Zach Black was 2 for 5 with four RBIs.

Tom Lokensgard took the loss for Fairfax in three innings, allowing five hits and two walks for four earned runs.

Courtland 4, Springfield 2

SPRINGFIELD — The Courtland Cubs held off the Springfield Tigers 4-2 on Sunday in a Tomahawk East League amateur baseball game.

Cade Bushard had two RBIs for Courtland, while Josh Giefer was 1 for 2 with a double, an RBI and a run scored. Nolan Drill and Teddy Giefer each had a double.

Jaden Drill got the win in five innings for the Cubs, allowing one hit and no walks for no runs while striking out 11. Giefer got the save in four innings, allowing two earned runs on two hits and a walk while fanning five.

Springfield was led by Tori Helget and Kadin Johnson, who each went 1 for 3, while Carter Erickson had a hit and an RBI.

Jordan Milbrath took the loss in five innings for the Tigers, allowing three hits and six walks for three earned runs while striking out four.

ALSO ON SUNDAY

Gibbon earned a home victory over Lamberton 19-17, while Hanska held off Leavenworth for a 3-2 win on the road. No state were reported for these games. Currently, the Hanska Lakers are the lone unbeaten TEL team with a 4-0 mark.
