This past Saturday in the Class A Varsity Super Regional (South) at Wow! Zone in Mankato, the New Ulm bowling team defeated Hutchinson to qualify for the Class A Varsity State Tournament.

Twenty teams competed in the regional tournament. The tournament format consisted of 14 games of qualifying, followed by bracket play.

The top 24 Class A teams will compete on Saturday, Dec 3, at Drkula’s 32 Bowl in Inver Grove Heights. Four New Ulm bowlers were also named to the All-Conference team by finishing in the top 12 of the conference and they are Mason Wilmes (Most Outstanding Player), Sydney Williams, Landon Uhde, and Kaden Olson.

Minnesota High School bowling is bowled in ‘Baker format.’ In this style of bowling, a team lineup consists of five bowlers and each bowler bowls two frames. These frames are not bowled back-to-back, but instead bowled successively. The bowler that bowls the first frame will bowl the sixth, the second bowls the seventh, and so on. This year’s season has almost come to an end, but there are still openings to join the Bantam (ages 7 to 11) or Junior (age 12 to 18) leagues, which go through May. The High School season will start again in Fall 2023. For more information or questions, feel free to call Concordia Lanes at 507-354-2923.
