Steel rebound on Saturday against Loons with 4-3 win
BREEZY POINT — The New Ulm Steel shook off a rough 7-1 season-opening loss to the Minnesota Loons on Friday night with a 4-3 win over the Loons Saturday night in NA3HL action.
Trailing 3-1 in the second period, the Steel began their comeback when Gus Cantwell found the back of the net with a goal assisted on by Lahoussine Salama and Nicholas O’Brien. Conner Souza then scored on a goal assisted by O’Brien and Aidan Swee to tie the game up heading into the third period.
Macrae Gordon then scored 5:04 into the third period on the power play to put the Steel up 4-3. Zach Maret and Zach Dalzell assisted on that final goal.
Dalzell scored 1:17 into the second period for the Steel’s first goal of the game on an assist from Landen Schwantes.
Dixon Ehlers finished with 32 saves in net for New Ulm.
