Sleepy Eye VFW sweeps St. James on Wednesday

ST. JAMES — Sleepy Eye VFW swept St. James in a VFW baseball doubleheader on Wednesday, winning Game 1 by a score of 18-7 in five innings and winning Game 2 by a score of 18-3 in four innings.

Cole Eckstein got the win in Game 1, pitching four innings and giving up four runs while fanning two. Cody Schultz was 2 for 2 with a triple, three RBIs and four runs scored for Sleepy Eye, while Talan Helget was 4 for 5 with three doubles and five RBIs.

In Game 2, Isaac Lendt got the win in four shutout innings. Gavin Strong was 3 for 4 with five RBIs for Sleepy Eye, while Eckstein was 3 for 3 with three runs scored and an RBI and Lendt was 2 for 4 with two RBIs and two runs scored.
