Sleepy Eye Jr. Legion shuts out VFW Gold

NEW ULM — Sleepy Eye Junior Legion’s Mark Anderson held New Ulm VFW Gold to two hits and struck out 10 as Sleepy Eye shut out New Ulm 2-0 Tuesday at Mueller Park.

Anderson allowed singles to Kaden Larson in the second and Zach Riederer and issued one walk.

Kaden Larson took the loss for VFW Gold. Larson allowed just four hits in his five innings of work and one run.

He fanned four.

Kaden Wilson allowed one run in his two innings of work.

Sleepy Eye scored a run in the top of the first when Jon Petermann led off with a triple to right and scored when Austin Uecker followed with an RBI single.

Larson would allow just three more hits in the next four innings.

VFW Gold had their best threat in the bottom of the sixth when Adam Wiltscheck led off with a walk. He stole second and took third on a wild pitch. But Anderson retired the next two Gold hitters to end the threat.

Sleepy Eye added an insurance run on three hits and a fielder’s choice in the bottom of the sixth.

Petermann, Uecker and Cody Schultz each had two hits.
