Region 2C playoffs start on Thursday
NEW ULM — The postseason for Region 2C begins Thursday with two games in New Ulm, one in Springfield and one in Stark.
All have 7:30 p.m. first pitches.
At Johnson Park, eighth-seeded Sleepy Eye meets ninth-seeded Essig and at Mueller Park, fifth-seeded Courtland battles 12th-seeded Gibbon.
In Springfield, sixth-seeded Lamberton meets 11th-seeded Fairfax and in Stark, seventh-seeded Leavenworth tangles with 10th-seeded Searles.
The top four teams, New Ulm (1), Springfield (2), Stark (3) and Hanska (4) get first-round byes.
Games continue Saturday morning in Springfield at 11 a.m. with the New Ulm Brewers meeting the winner of the Sleepy Eye-Essig game.
At 1:30 p.m., Hanska meets the winner of the Courtland-Gibbon contest. At 4:30 p.m., Stark meets the winner of the Lamberton-Fairfax game and at 7 p.m., Springfield meets the survivor of the Leavenworth-Searles game.
Games then continue on Sunday with four loser’s bracket games in New Ulm beginning at 11 a.m. at Johnson Park.
