ESSIG — Stark downed Essig 13-3 on Sunday in eight innings of Tomahawk East League amateur baseball action.
Sean Mathiowetz led Stark at the plate, going 3 for 5 with a triple, an RBI and two runs scored, while Dylan Klein, Zach Haala, Nick Labat and David Surprenant each added two hits for the Longhorns. Klein homered for Stark.
Josh Kopacek got the win in eight innings for Stark, giving up one earned run on two walks and six hits. He struck out three.
Essig was led by Mason Sellner at the plate, who was 1 for 3 with a run scored. Nick Stadick took the loss in three innings, giving up six hits and four walks for five earned runs while fanning two.
Hanska 4, Springfield 3
HANSKA — Hanska eked out a 4-3 win over Springfield on Sunday in a Tomahawk East League amateur baseball game.
Lucas Fredin had a hit and two RBIs to lead the Lakers at the plate, while Branson Peterson earned the win for Hanska in two innings of relief, giving up no hits, no walks and no runs.
Springfield was led by Tori Helget and Jacob Poehler, who each had two hits. Jordan Milbrath also homered for the Tigers. Milbrath took the loss in 2/3 innings of relief, giving up two earned runs on three walks and a hit with one strikeout.
Earlier in the week on Friday night, Springfield defeated Searles 5-2, with Isaac Fink earning the win in three innings of relief. Milbrath had three hits in the win.
Mankato West 4, Sleepy Eye VFW 3, Game 1

SLEEPY EYE — Mankato West swept Sleepy Eye VFW 4-3 and 4-2 on Saturday in a baseball doubleheader.
In Game 1, Brandon Schmitz took the loss in seven innings, giving up one earned run on five hits and two walks while fanning two.
In Game 2, Spencer Osmonson went 2 for 2 for Sleepy Eye at the plate. Marcus Martinez took the loss in 4 1/3 innings, allowing five hits for two earned runs. He struck out one. Kaleb Butenhoff pitched 2 and 2/3 shutout innings with two strikeouts also for Sleepy Eye.
