Stark blasts Brewers 12-5

NEW ULM — The top of the Tomahawk East League got a little tighter Sunday.

Stark left-hander Adam Sellner held New Ulm bats to just three hits and the Longhorns’ bats pounded out 19 hits as Stark downed the Brewers 12-5 Sunday at Johnson Park.

Sellner struck out eight, and three of the New Ulm runs were unearned as the Longhorns survived six errors in the game.

Mitch Bockenstedt took the loss for New Ulm, now 6-1 in the TEL.

Sellner also added four hits, including a triple to his game resume.

Nick Labat and David Suprenant each had three hits for Stark, now 6-2.

Stark took a 1-0 lead in the second before the Brewers, who play at Hanska Wednesday night, scored three runs on one hit and with three Longhorns’ errors playing into the inning.

Stark plated four runs on four hits in the third before adding three more runs in the fourth.

A three-run ninth inning gave Stark a comfortable 12-3 lead before the Brewers pushed three runs across in the bottom of the ninth.

The Brewers pitching staff has now allowed 41 hits in the last two games.
