New Ulm 11, Northfield 1

NORTHFIELD — New Ulm crushed Northfield 11-1 on Friday in nonconference baseball action.

Isaiah Miller led New Ulm with three hits while Jaden Drill, Hunter Sehr and Carter Lang each had two hits. Sehr also had three RBIs while Lang and Kedar Schmitz had two RBIs.

Ethan Stade earned the win, striking out 10 in seven innings. He allowed six hits and walked two.

The Eagles scored single runs in the third, fourth and fifth inning before breaking the game open in the sixth with five runs. They scored three more runs in the top of the seventh.

New Ulm is at St. Peter on Tuesday.

New Ulm 6, Waseca 1

WASECA — New Ulm topped Waseca in Big South Conference boys’ tennis action on Friday.

New Ulm took three of four at singles, with Max Gieseke winning 6-0, 7-6 at second singles, Joey Gag winning 6-2, 6-1 at third singles, and Ben Brownfield winning 6-2, 6-1 at fourth singles.

Cody Gillman and Tate Trullinger won 6-3, 6-2 at first doubles, Nathaniel Janssen and Thomas Schwartz won 6-1, 6-4 at second doubles, and Dylen Carreon and Isaac Davis won 6-0, 4-6, 10-6 at third doubles.

New Ulm hosts Worthington on Tuesday.

MVL girls second at Sibley East

ARLINGTON — The Minnesota Valley Lutheran girls’ track and field team took second at the Sibley East girls’ track and field meet on Friday.

Sibley East won with 103 points and MVL had 84 points. Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton (70), Glencoe-Silver Lake (64), Norwood-Young America (24) and Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop (19) followed.

For MVL, Anna Schwartz was second in the 100 (13.14) and Olivia Reinarts was second in the 400 (1:04.83). Mia Johnson won the 800 (2:37.13) and Clare Fischer was second in the 1,600 (5:52.15) and first in the 3,200 (12:09). Rylee Woller won the high jump (4-8) and Ella Schlei was second with the same mark. Kaylee Hunter took second in the long jump (14-1.5) and she won the triple jump (1:3.75)

Prep softball

Springfield 18, BOLD 0

SPRINGFIELD — Springfield scored 10 runs in the second inning and defeated BOLD in a nonconference softball game on Friday.

Brooklyn Sturm was 2 for 4 with three RBIs for the Tigers and Jaeli Richert was 3 for 3 with three runs scored, a home run and six RBIs.

The Tigers are at Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s on Tuesday.

Nicollet 13, JWP 1, 6 inn.

JANESVILLE — Nicollet defeated Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton 13-1 in six innings on Friday. Marah Hulke got the win in the circle with 11 strikeouts, no walks, no hits and no earned runs. Hulke was 2 for 3 with a walk, a double and a grand slam. Josi Hanson was 1 for 2 with a double and a run scored and Morgan Arndt was 1 for 2 with three runs scored.
