WINTHROP — Sleepy Eye and Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop split a Tomahawk Conference softball doubleheader on Thursday.

In the first game, Brooke Arneson had two hits for Sleepy Eye and Katelyn Tauer got the win. Katelyn Tauer had two RBIs.

In the second game, Morgan Klein had two hits for Sleepy Eye and Morgan Klein took the loss. McKenna Strong had two RBIs for the Indians.

Sleepy Eye is at New Ulm Cathedral on Monday.

Springfield 13, Wabasso 11

Springfield 4, Wabasso 2

SPRINGFIELD — Springfield swept Wabasso in a Tomahawk Conference softball doubleheader on Tuesday.

In the first game, Wabasso scored seven runs in the second inning but Wabasso hung on for the win. Jalivia Richert earned the win, going seven innings and allowing 11 runs on 12 hits.

Courtney Wendt, Astrid Ramirez, Brenna Pabst, Richert and Megan Ploeger each had two hits for the Tigers.

In Game 2, Springfield scored a pair of runs in the fourth inning to pull away with the win. Jaeli Richert earned the win, giving up two runs on two hits over seven innings. Sarah Franta gave up four runs on 10 hits for the loss.

Jalivia Richert and Brooklyn Sturm each had two hits for the Tigers.

Wabasso 7, Springfield 1

Springfield 2, Wabasso 1

WABASSO — Wabasso and Springfield split a Tomahawk Conference baseball doubleheader on Thursday.

In the first game, Ty Altermatt earned the win, allowing one run in seven innings.

In the second game, Jacob Nachreiner earned the win for the Tigers. He allowed one run over seven innings.

Sleepy Eye 8, GFW 7

Sleepy Eye 14, GFW 3

SLEEPY EYE — Sleepy Eye swept Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop in a Tomahawk Conference baseball doubleheader on Thursday.

In the first game, Arian Saenz pitched a complete game for the win. He struck out nine and allowed three earned runs. Andres Herrera took the loss, giving up nine hits and eight runs in 5 2/3 innings.

Kadon Strong was 2 for 3 with a double and four RBIs for Sleepy Eye and Alex Berkner was 3 for 4 with an RBI for the Thunderbirds.

In Game 2, Nick Mielke earned the win, giving up seven hits and three runs in five innings. Zach Schwarzrock took the loss, giving up seven hits on seven runs in 4 2/3 innings.

Erizen Traconis was 2 for 4 with a double and three RBIs for Sleepy Eye and Herrera was 1 for 4 with two RBIs for GFW.

Sleepy Eye (3-5) hosts New Ulm Cathedral on Monday.

MCW 9, Madelia 2

MADELIA — Martin County West defeated Madelia in a Valley Conference baseball game on Thursday. Carter Florez was 2 for 3 for Madelia and Dylan Grev struck out nine in six innings.

Madelia (4-6) is at Renville County West on Saturday.

Springfield boys 193, GFW 203

WINTHROP — Springfield defeated Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop in a Tomahawk Conference boys’ golf meet on Thursday.

GFW’s Logan Martin and Springfield’s Carter Asmus shared medalist honors with a 44.

MR 189, Madelia 194, Truman/GHEC 231

MADELIA — Maple River defeated Madelia and Truman/Granada-Huntley-East Chain on Thursday in prep golf action.

Colin Wihlm led Madelia with a 43 and Maple River’s Teien Murphy took first overall with a 41.

Wabasso boys 222, MVL 228

MVL girls 245, Wabasso inc.

SANBORN — The Wabasso boys and the Minnesota Valley Lutheran girls’ golf teams won a Tomahawk Conference meet on Thursday.

Nadie Clobes and Abbie Riederer led the way on the girls’ side for MVL with a 55 and MVL’s Ben Pearson led the boys with a 44.
