NEW ULM — Martin Luther College senior running back Joshuah Kren was named to the D3football.com Team of the Week following his performance in the Knights’ 34-16 season-opening win at Ripon College on April 3.

Kren carried 23 times for 210 yards and one touchdown in the win, with the score coming on a 70-yard run on the team’s first play of the second half.

Big plays are nothing new for Kren, who recorded eight touchdowns last season of 50 yards or more on the way to being named UMAC Most Valuable Offensive Player and Second Team All-Region by D3football.com.

In 2019, Kren totaled 20 touchdowns and set a new MLC single-season record with 1,591 all-purpose yards from scrimmage. His 7.93 yards per carry average ranked fourth in all of NCAA Division III.

Kren’s 2010 rushing yards on Saturday were part of a dominant ground game that finished with 345 rushing yards on 68 carries. The running game also helped the Knights chew up nearly 40 minutes of time of possession, helping the defense shut down the Ripon offense over the final three quarters.
