Marshall 70, New Ulm 27

MARSHALL — Top-seeded Marshall eliminated eighth-seeded New Ulm from the Section 2AAA playoffs with a 70-27 win on Thursday night in girls’ basketball action.

Daviney Dreckman led the Eagles with 10 points, while Bryn Nesvold had eight rebounds.

The Eagles end their season with a 3-15 record.

Girls’ hockey

New Ulm 3, Delano 2, 2 OT

DELANO — New Ulm defeated Delano in the Section 2A girls’ hockey playoffs on Thursday in double overtime.

No game statistics were posted online or submitted to The Journal.

New Ulm resumes action on Saturday against the winner of Mound Westonka and Hutchinson for the Section 2A championship.

Boys’ Basketball

Cleveland 59, Cathedral 48

CLEVELAND — Cleveland took down New Ulm Cathedral 59-48 on Thursday night in Section 2A boys’ basketball playoff action.

The Greyhounds (11-7) were led by Jevan Wilfahrt’s 17 points, while Sam Knowles had 15 points, 22 rebounds and four steals. David Wilfahrt added 11 points.

Mayer Lutheran 66, Cedar Mountain 53

MAYER — Mayer Lutheran defeated Cedar Mountain 66-53 on Thursday night in Section 2A boys’ basketball playoff action.

The Cougars were led by Devonte Charles’ 15 points, while Caden Kleinschmidt had 13 points.

Cedar Mountain ends its season with an 8-11 record.

MCW 65, Nicollet 51

SHERBURN — Martin County West knocked out Nicollet in Section 2A boys’ basketball action on Thursday.

Shane Stevenson scored 20 points and Collin Bode finished with 15 for the Raiders, who ended their season at 10-9.

St. Clair 76, Springfield 57

ST. CLAIR — Top-seeded St. Clair ended Springfield’s season with a 76-57 win on Thursday in Section 2A playoff action.

The Tigers (8-11) were led by Dylan Batzlaff’s 18 points, while Mason Leonard added 10 points and Brendon Buerkle had 9.
