SPRINGFIELD — Springfield defeated Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop 57-46 on Friday night in Tomahawk Conference girls’ basketball action.

The Tigers were led by Brooklyn Sturm’s 27 points, while Megan Ploeger added 16 points.

GFW was led by Brynn Busse’s 16 points, while Abby Heimkes added 11 points.

GFW is at Minnesota Valley Lutheran on Monday, while Springfield is at Buffalo Lake-Hector Stewart on Tuesday.

Boys’ Basketball

GHEC/T/ML 52, Nicollet 40

TRUMAN — Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Truman/Martin Luther defeated Nicollet 52-40 on Friday night in a Valley Conference boys’ basketball game.

The Raiders were led by Shane Stevenson’s 14 points, while Colton Thomson had 12 points and Collin Bode added 6.

Nicollet (6-7, 4-5) is at Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial on Monday.

MCW 50, Madelia 47

MADELIA — Martin County West defeated Madelia in a Valley Conference boys’ basketball game on Friday.

Ja’Sean Glover had 24 points, eight rebounds and four assists. Ramiro Zamora had seven steals.

LUVERNE — The New Ulm Area wrestling team defeated Luverne 51-13 on Friday in prep wrestling action.

Parker Kamm, Logan Lee, Isaiah Rieser, Marqavion Haefner, Wyatt Pollard, Aaron Kauffmann, Dylen Carreon, Cole Ranweiler and Jaden Drill all picked up wins for the Eagles.
