Lamberton advances to Class C state tourney

SPRINGFIELD — Lamberton punched its ticket for the Class C state amateur baseball tournament with a 6-2 victory over No. 1 seed Springfield on Wednesday.

Nick Altermatt earned the win for the Long Sox. He went six innings and struck out 10. He allowed one earned run and four hits. Johnny Pistulka pitched three innings to earn the save. He allowed two hits and he struck out two.

Jordan Milbrath pitched 1 1/3 innings and took the loss for the Tigers. He allowed five runs on one hit. He walked four. Justin Haugo pitched 6 2/3 innings and struck out seven for Springfield.

Pistulka went 2 for 4 with a run for Lamberton and Neil Eichten, Colby Pack, Josh Altermatt and Isaac Jenniges each had an RBI.

Ryan Sturm was 2 for 4 for Springfield with a run scored. Brandon Wilhelmi added an RBI.

Lamberton is at New Ulm on Friday for the top spot in the Region 2C playoffs. Springfield hosts the winner of Stark and Fairfax Friday.
