Gold tops LSH

NEW ULM — New Ulm Legion 18U jumped to a 4-0 lead after three innings and went on to a 5-4 win over LeSueur-Henderson Thursday night at Johnson Park.

Nolan Drill got the pitching win for New Ulm. He went 6 2/3 innings and allowed four runs on seven hits while striking out six. Sam Keckeisen got the save.

Nate Gregerson took the loss for LeSueur-Henderson giving up five runs in four innings.

Jackson Bode had three hits for New Ulm with Cole Ranweiler, Mason Cox and Jace Marotz each adding two hits. Drill and Tony Geiger each drove in two runs.

Mitch Casperson had a solo home run and a triple for LeSueur-Henderson.

New Ulm, who hosts Forest Lake for a doubleheader starting at 6 p.m. at Johnson Park, scored two runs in the first on singles from Ranweiler and Bode and a Drill double.

Geiger’s two-run double in the third made it a 4-0 game.

LeSueur-Henderson scored a run in the fourth on an error.

New Ulm scored a single run in the fourth on an Ethan Stade run-scoring single.

LeSueur-Henderson cut the lead to 5-4 in the sixth after Casperson homered. A Zach Berndt double and RBI singles from Tom Gupton and Charlie Weick pulled LeSueur-Henderson to within 5-4.

Casperson rapped a two-out triple in the seventh before Keckeisen came in to get the final out of the game.
