SPRINGFIELD — New Ulm Silver defeated Springfield 10-3 on Monday in a VFW baseball game.

Silver jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first thanks to an RBI double by Austin Enter and two Springfield Errors.

Springfield picked up two runs in the bottom of the first with four walks and a Silver error.

In the top of the second, Silver loaded the bases on an error, single and walk before Anton Freiderich launched bases-clearing double into the gap for a 6-2 lead.

Jack Albrecht came in relief in the bottom of the second with bases loaded and two outs and got Silver out of a jam. Albrecht went on to throw 2 1/3 innings, striking out five for the win.

Blake Soukup picked up the three-inning save, striking out six.

Springfield was led by Jakob Nachreiner, who was 3 for 3 at the plate and threw four scoreless innings of relief.
