NEW ULM — New Ulm Brewers starter Wade French went the distance and got some early run support as the Brewers defeated Lamberton 6-1 in Tomahawk East League amateur baseball action at Mueller Park.

French allowed just six hits in the game and he struck out six. French allowed two hits in the top of the second inning but stranded runners on second and third in that inning. He didn’t allow another hit until the eighth inning, where the Long Sox put together four hits to score their only run of the game.

The Brewers scored two runs in the bottom of the fourth to break the scoreless game. Andrew Peters doubled, scoring Jaden Domeier and French. Braden Zimmerman added an RBI single in the fifth inning to put the Brewers up 3-0 and New Ulm scored two more times in the bottom of the sixth to go up 5-0 after Cole Ranweiler tripled and to score Judd Davis. Ranweiler later scored on a double steal.

The Long Sox got their lone run in the eighth after a couple of fly balls to center field were lost in the lights. Nick Altermatt’s fly ball landed, allowing Isaac Jenniges to score. But New Ulm got a run back in the bottom of the eighth when Hunter Ranweiler scored.
