Springfield, Hanska, Sleepy Eye earn Tomahawk victories

GIBBON — Springfield defeated Gibbon 8-5 in Tomahawk East League amateur baseball action on Sunday.

Isaac Fink earned the win for the Tigers. He went seven innings and allowed two runs on three hits. He struck out six. Brandon Wilhelmi pitched 1 2/3 innings to earn the save.

Jon DeRock pitched 3 2/3 innings and took the loss. He gave up six runs on nine hits and he struck out two.

Offensively for Springfield, Branden Flock was 3 for 4 with a run scored and Carter Erickson was 2 for 4 with an RBI and a run scored. Fink was 3 for 6 with a home run and Wilhelmi was 1 for 3 with a home run. Ryan Sturm was 1 for 5 with a home run and four RBIs. Pat Moriarty was also 2 for 5.

DeRock was 2 for 5 for Gibbon. Brendan Kienlan had a home run and three RBIs.

Hanska 9, Essig 3

ESSIG — Hanska’s Gabe Knowles went 3 for 4 with five RBIs as the Lakers defeated Essig in a Tomahawk East League amateur baseball game on Sunday.

Gabe Knowles also had two doubles and a home run. Chris Knowles finished 4 for 5 with a double, an RBI and Kevin Larson was 2 for 5 with a double two runs scored and two RBIs. Sam Knowles and Derek Wilfahrt also each had a double for the Lakers.

Cole Wellman pitched five innings and allowed one run to earn the win. He struck out five and allowed five hits.

Alex Guggisberg allowed four runs on seven hits over four innings to take the loss. He struck out three and walked two.

Jake Stadick was 2 for 5 with an RBI for the Bluejays and Nolan Drill was 2 for 4 with a run scored.

Sleepy Eye 10, Searles 1

SEARLES — Sleepy Eye defeated Searles in a TEL amateur baseball game on Sunday.

Joey Walter was 2 for 5 with two home runs and three RBIs to lead the Indians offensively.

Alan Woitas went 2 for 4 with a home run. He pitched six innings, allowed one earned run and he struck out four to earn the win.

Dylan Klein also had a solo home run and three shutout innings in relief.
