NEW ULM — Mankato West VFW scored early and often as it defeated New Ulm Silver 12-2 in five innings on Wednesday at Mueller Park.

Blake Soukup took the loss for New Ulm. He allowed three hits and he struck out three. New Ulm allowed 11 walks in the game.

After a scoreless first inning, West scored a single run in the second inning, then scored three times in the third, and fourth innings to break the game wide open. Mankato then scored five runs in the fifth.

New Ulm had only two hits in the game. Austin Enter went 1 for 2 for New Ulm.

New Ulm plays the 14-U New Ulm team on Saturday.
