Legion Gold sweeps Marshall at Mueller

NEW ULM — New Ulm Legion Gold swept a doubleheader from Marshall Thursday night at Mueller Park, taking the first game 8-6 and then rallied to down Marshall 12-10 in the nightcap.

The two combined games saw a total of 589 pitches thrown by pitchers from both teams with 250 in Game 1 and 339 in Game 2

In Game 1, Sam Keckeisen got the win in relief.

Cole Feleyn took the loss.

Chris Knowles led New Ulm with four hits with Nolan Drill adding two hits and four RBIs.

Knowles added two RBIs.

New Ulm trailed 5-4 going into the bottom of the sixth when it rallied for four runs.

An infield single from Knowles tied the game before Drill rapped a three-run double for an 8-5 lead.

Marshall scored a run in the top of the seventh before Keckeisen closed the door in his second inning of work.

In Game 2, New Ulm rallied from an early 9-4 deficit for the win.

Drill and Mason Cox each had two hits with Drill lacing a triple.

Drill also got the win in relief.

Jayden Peurcy took the loss for Marshall.

New Ulm and Marshall were tied at 10-10 before Cox’s single in the sixth gave Gold an 11-10 lead.

A Marshall error in the seventh gave New Ulm an insurance run.
