Tim Orth Memorial Foundation Jam the Gym Event cancelled for 2020

WABASSO — The Tim Orth Foundation Jam the Gym event scheduled for April 3, 2020 at Wabasso High School has been canceled as have all TOMF events, due to the state guidelines implemented by Governor Walz.

Traditionally, the Annual Tim Orth Foundation All Jamboree Basketball Game consisted of senior athletes from the Tomahawk and Red Rock Conferences. Both girls’ and a boys’ games are played as well as a number of special events, including numerous professional mascots, the Timberwolves and Utah Jazz Dunk teams, and the Fargo-Moorhead Acro Team.

The profits from this event are always donated to individuals with major medical expenses who have been selected by the Tim Orth Foundation. This year’s recipients for the Wabasso event were Bowen and Liam Eberhard, children of Jennifer and Dan Eberhard of Lamberton. Bowen is a child with high functioning Autism and Liam is a child with Down Syndrome.

Paisley Junker, the 11-year old daughter of Nadalie and Lance Junker of Butterfield. She attends Springfield Public School and has been diagnosed with Type I Diabetes, Celiac’s Disease, Juvenile Arthritis and Mixed Connective Tissue Disease. All four diagnoses are life-long auto-immune diseases.

The final recipient for the Wabasso event is Taya Beyer, a 12-year old from Springfield. Her parents are April and Jason Beyer. Taya was diagnosed with Stage 4 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Her cancer is curable, but due to how advanced the disease was, she needed intense aggressive chemo treatment followed by radiation. She finished treatment in January 2020.

Despite the cancellation of the Wabasso event, TOMF is encouraging donations so these families can be provided with as much assistance as possible. Please visit the TOMF website (www.timorthfoundation.org) to learn more about the foundation and to make a donation if you would like to help this year’s selected families.
