Prep roundup: Heiderscheidt reaches 1,000 career points for Indians in OT loss

Sleepy Eye 63, OT

SLEEPY EYE — Kegan Heiderscheidt scored his 1,000th career point for Sleepy Eye High School in a narrow 64-63 overtime loss to Mankato Loyola on Friday night in nonconference boys’ basketball action.

Heiderscheidt now sits at 1,002 career points and is the first boys’ basketball player to hit the 1,000-point mark for the Indians since Brandon Polesky. He finished Friday night with 31 points, six blocks and four assists.

Logan Netzke also added 7 points and 10 rebounds for the Indians.

Sleepy Eye (2-23) plays at Madelia on Monday night.

New Ulm Cathedral 64,

LP/HT 58

LESTER PRAIRIE — New Ulm Cathedral defeated Lester Prairie/Holy Trinity on Friday in a nonconference boys’ basketball game.

James Gillis led the Greyhounds with 17 points and three assists. Chris Knowles had 16 points and four rebounds. Jon Zinniel added 12 points with eight rebounds and Sam Knowles had 10 points and 14 rebounds.

Cathedral (22-3) will next play at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday at Sibley East.

St. Mary’s 86, LCWM 68

SLEEPY EYE — Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s downed Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial on Friday in a nonconference boys’ basketball game.

It was the regular-season finale for the Knights.

Nick Labat led the Knights with 22 points, Carson Domeier and Trent Steffensmeier each added 19 points, while Blake Steffensmeier scored 14 points.

The Knights (14-12) next play in the first round of the Section 2A playoffs Thursday night.

Nicollet 99, GFW 82

NICOLLET — Nicollet defeated Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop on Friday in a nonconference boys’ basketball game. It was the regular season finale for GFW.

Riley Hulke led the Raiders with 39 points and 11 assists. Shane Stevenson scored 21 points and he had seven rebounds. Colton Thomsen added 16 points with nine rebounds.

Johnnie Ambrose led the Thunderbirds with 26 points, Damian Hopp added 23 points and Dominic Henrichs scored 12 points. Hopp hit seven 3s in the contest.

Nicollet (19-5) will host Medford on Monday. GFW (8-16) will await its next opponent in the Section 2AA Tournament.

MACCRAY 65, CM 55

CLARA CITY — MACCRAY downed Cedar Mountain on Friday in a nonconference boys’ basketball game.

Trey Peterson-Juhl led the Cougars with 24 points and 14 rebounds. Dakota Pendleton added 14 points and five rebounds.

Madelia 70, BLHS 63

HECTOR — Madelia defeated Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart on Friday in nonconference boys’ basketball action.

Ja’Sean Glover led the way for the Blackhawks with 34 points and 10 rebounds. Also for Madelia, Kadin Benzel scored 13 points and had six steals, while Ethan Arndt added 12 points and 12 rebounds. Arndt got 11 of the 12 rebounds in the second half.

Madelia (11-14) will host Sleepy Eye on Monday.
