FAIRMONT — The New Ulm gymnastics team scored a season high for the year as it defeated Martin County Area 137.765-133.525.

New Ulm’s Kayla Goblirsch took first in the all-around with a 37. She had a 9.5 in vault, a 9 in bars, a 9.35 in bean and a 9.15 in floor.

New Ulm’s Ella Freiderich took third in the all-around with a 34.45. She had a 8.25 in bars, 8.725 in beam and 9.05 in floor.

New Ulm’s Emily Guggisberg took fourth in the all-around with a 33.025. She had a 9.025 in beam and 8.85 in floor.

Girls’ basketball

St. Clair 48, Nicollet/Loyola 35

ST. CLAIR — Nicollet/Mankato Loyola’s Hayley Selby scored 11 points, but the Raiders fell to St. Clair in a Valley Conference girls’ basketball game on Thursday.

Zoey Weller scored 6 points and Josi Hansen scored 5 points. Kendall Robertson pulled down seven rebounds for Nicollet.

St. Peter 68, New Ulm 63, OT

ST. PETER — St. Peter defeated New Ulm 68-63 in overtime on Thursday in Big South Conference girls’ basketball action.

New Ulm’s Hannah Osborne had 25 points, nine rebounds and seven assists, Nora Windschitl had 13 points and Olivia Wick had four blocks.

New Ulm (5-8) hosts Waconia at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.

Sleepy Eye 54, GFW 40

SLEEPY EYE — Sleepy Eye defeated Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop in a Tomahawk Conference girls’ basketball game on Thursday.

For Sleepy Eye, Kaydince Thoms scored 17 points and grabbed 11 rebounds and Kadence Hesse had 14 points, 11 rebounds and two assists. Breaunna Mertz had 14 points and nine rebounds.

For GFW, Brynn Busse led the way with 15 points and Shelby Ramirez scored 13 points.

The Indians (12-3, 6-3) are at Minnesota Valley Lutheran on Tuesday.

Boys’ basketball

MVL 89, Wabasso 56

WABASSO — Minnesota Valley Lutheran defeated Wabasso 89-56 on Thursday in a Tomahawk Conference boys’ basketball game.

For MVL, Dunwa Omot had 21 points, three rebounds, one assist, one steal and three blocks. Jace Marotz had 15 points, three rebounds, five assists and one steal and Mason Cox had 13 points and four rebounds. Jacob Norris finished with 6 points, seven rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Wabasso’s Will Carlson had 20 points, one rebound and seven steals. Cole Fredericks had 9 points and four rebounds and Isaac Kronback had 8 points, three rebounds, one assist and three steals. Mason Dallenbach had 8 points, two rebounds, three assists and one steal.

MVL plays at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Sleepy Eye. Wabasso hosts Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart at 6 p.m. on Tuesday.

Cedar Mountain 72, BLHS 53

MORGAN — Cedar Mountain defeated Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart in a Tomahawk Conference boys’ basketball game on Thursday.

Devonte Charles scored 14 points and Caden Kleinschmidt finished with 13 points. Trey Peterson-Juhl and Chris Dow each scored 12 points and Nick Freitag finished with 11 points.

Cedar Mountain will host Fulda on Friday.

Springfield 91,

St. Mary’s 76

SLEEPY EYE — Springfield defeated Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s in a Tomahawk Conference boys’ basketball game on Thursday.

For Springfield, Decker Scheffler had 31 points, Ivan Hovland, Nolan Hovland and Mitchell Buerkle each had 14 points.

For St. Mary’s, Nick Labat had 22 points and Tony Steffensmeier and Carson Domeier each scored 20 points.

Springfield hosts Westbrook-Walnut Grove at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. St. Mary’s is at Cedar Mountain on Tuesday.

Nicollet 74, LP/HT 71

NICOLLET — Nicollet defeated Lester Prairie/Holy Trinity 74-71 on Thursday in a nonconference boys’ basketball game.

Nicollet was led by Colton Thompsen with 23 points and 12 rebounds, Riley Hulke with 22 points and 11 assists and Shane Stevensen with 10 points.

Nicollet plays at 7:15 p.m. on Monday at Martin County West.

GFW 59, Sleepy Eye 44

SLEEPY EYE — Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop defeated Sleepy Eye 59-44 on Thursday in a Tomahawk Conference boys’ basketball game.

Sleepy Eye’s leading scorers were Kegan Heiderscheidt with 22 points and Logan Netzke with 12 points.

For GFW, Dominic Heinrichs scored 22 points and Ethan Schwarzrock scored 16 points.

Sleepy Eye hosts Red Rock Central at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. GFW hosts Belle Plaine at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
