• Mathiowetz broke the Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s girls’ basketball record for points in a game when she scored 47 points and grabbed 10 rebounds on Tuesday night in an overtime loss to Minnesota Valley Lutheran. Crisi Schewe held the St. Mary’s record for points in a game with 45 during the 2008-09 season.

• After being double-teamed on Thursday and being held to 5 points against New Ulm Cathedral, Mathiowetz went off again on Friday, scoring 32 points against Red Rock Central.

• Through 10 games, Mathiowetz is averaging 26.2 points and 9.1 rebounds per game. She’s also averaging 3.4 assists and 3.5 assists per contest for the Knights (9-1).

“Madison is a player that puts in the time to make herself better, which in turn makes our team better,” St. Mary’s coach Bruce Woitas said. “Madison has a great passion for the game of basketball and it shows every time she takes the floor.”
