Feder finishes 24th at state cross-country meet

Sleepy Eye St. Mary's/Sleepy Eye/New Ulm Cathedral's Clare Fischer crosses the line at the Class A state girls' cross country meet on Saturday at St. Olaf College in Northfield.

NORTHFIELD — Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop junior Grace Feder finished 24th overall with a time of 19:37.1 on Saturday at the Class A girls’ cross-country meet at St. Olaf College.

Feder was one of four area qualifiers in the girls’ race. Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s/Sleepy Eye/New Ulm Cathedral’s Clare Fischer made her state meet debut and she finished 40th overall in 19:55.9. Wabasso’s Chloe Haven also made her debut and she finished 100th overall in 20:39.6. Springfield/Cedar Mountain’s Lily McCone finished 139th overall in 21:43.1.

On the boys’ side, Springfield/Cedar Mountain’s Mitchell Buerkle finished 28th overall in 16:42.7.
