WEM runs by Chargers; Rabbits top MCC

WEM 34, MVL 8

WATERVILLE — Waterville-Elysian-Morristown defeated Minnesota Valley Lutheran 34-8 on Tuesday in Section 2A football playoff action.

Jace Marotz scored MVL’s touchdown off a 22-yard pass from Mason Cox.

Colton Collum led MVL defensively with 20 tackles, one sack and one fumble recovery.

MVL finishes their season at 2-7.

Wabasso 21, MCC 14

WABASSO — Wabasso defeated Murray County Central 21-14 on Tuesday in a Section 3A playoff football game.

Carter Benz scored two touchdowns for Wabasso, one passing and one rushing. Also for Wabasso, Nick Marotzke had 117 yards rushing and one touchdown and Lance Wagner had 35 yards receiving and one touchdown.

Wabasso was led on defense by Wagner and Marotzke, who each had eight total tackles. Colby Wall and Cole Frericks each had seven total tackles for Wabasso.

Wabasso is at Sherburn next for a 3 p.m. game Saturday, taking on No. 2-seeded Martin County West as playoffs continue.

Nicollet 28, BLHS 12

NICOLLET — Nicollet defeated Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart 28-12 on Tuesday in a Section 2, 9-Man playoff football game.

Nicollet was led by Jon Mans, who had 128 yards passing, 102 yards rushing and 4 total touchdowns, one passing and three rushing. Jon Mans’ touchdown pass was caught by Riley Mans.

Nicollet was led on defense by Riley Hulke with three interceptions, Riley Mans with one interception and Ben Radke with 10 tackles.

Nicollet (8-1) continues playoff action against Ogilvie on Saturday.

RCW 49,

Cedar Mountain 6

RENVILLE — Renville County West defeated Cedar Mountain 49-6 on Tuesday in a Section 2, 9-Man playoff football game.

Nick Freitag scored CM/C’s touchdown off a 25-yard pass from Cade Schiller. Vincent Oches had 100 yards rushing and 76 yards receiving for Cedar Mountain.

For Cedar Mountain defense, Austin Schumacher had seven total tackles, Caden Kleinschmidt had four total tackles and two interceptions and Jackson Guggisberg gad three total tackles and one interception.

HLO/F 32, Madelia 25

MADELIA — Despite Madelia holding a late 25-24 lead, Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda scored late after an interception to help lead it past the Blackhawks 32-25 on Tuesday night in Section 3, 9-man playoff action.

Madelia was led by Ethan Arndt, who rushed for 115 yards and three touchdowns rushing and also had a touchdown pass of 18 yards to Luke Hennis. Ja’Sean Glover had four catches for 63 yards for Madelia also, while Ramiro Zamora had seven total tackles and a fumble recovery. Glover also had an interception.

Madelia ends its season at 2-7.
