Prep roundup: New Ulm girls fall in 2A semis, Madelia gets swept in volleyball

WACONIA — Waconia, the No. 4 seed in Section 2A, ended New Ulm’s season with a 5-0 victory over the Eagles on Tuesday night in girl’s soccer action.

Waconia scored the first goal with 20 minutes left in the first half and it added to the lead later on in the half to make it 2-0 with 10 minutes remaining.

Waconia broke the game wide open in the second half, scoring just 6 minutes into the second half. Nine minutes later, the Wildcats led 4-0 and they scored with nine minutes remaining to end New Ulm’s season at 13-5-1.

Kendra Nesvold had 12 saves for New Ulm and New Ulm finished with three shots on goal.

Prep volleyball

A-C 3, Madelia 0

ALDEN — Alden-Conger defeated Madelia in a Valley Conference volleyball match on Tuesday 25-9, 25-22, 25-13.

Brooke Lensing had five kills for Madelia and Lillian Maul had 12 digs. Emily Stevenson finished with seven digs and 17 set assists.

Madelia awaits playoff next week.

MACCRAY 3, CM 0

MORGAN — MACCRAY defeated Cedar Mountain 25-9, 25-14, 25-14 on Tuesday in prep volleyball action.

For the Cougars, Nadia Meyers had six kills, eight digs, and eight set assists. Maddie Rose had four kills and Mykenna Vollmer had four kills, four assists and four digs. Hailey Hollar had eight digs and Morgan Engholm had 11 digs.

Wabasso 3, W/WG 2

WALNUT GROVE — Wabasso defeated Westbrook/Walnut Grove 26-24, 17-25, 25-16, 23-25, 15-13 in a nonconference volleyball match on Tuesday.

Cora Eichten had 16 kills to lead the Rabbits and Kelsey Frank had 16 set assists. Avery Carlson finished with 14 set assists.

MLA 3, Springfield 0

SPRINGFIELD — Mountain Lake Area defeated Springfield 25-16, 25-19, 25-19 on Tuesday in nonconference volleyball action.

Eva Mark had 17 set assists and 20 digs for Springfield and Mya Mickelson finished with 10 digs. Sydney Hauger finished with five kills and one block.
