New Ulm girls’, boys’ soccer teams both down Jordan on Saturday

New Ulm 6, Jordan 0

JORDAN — The New Ulm girls’ soccer team improved to 5-2-1 by defeating Jordan 6-0 at Jordan on Saturday in nonconference girls’ soccer action.

Bryn Nesvold added the first goal assisted by Madison Roufs at the seven-minute mark.

The next three goals were all unassisted and scored by Paige Kalis.

At 2:57 in the second half, Kalis scored her fourth goal of the day from a crossing pass from Kaye Rysdahl.

The final goal of the contest was scored by Rysdahl with the assist going to Madison Roufs.

New Ulm goalkeeper Kendra Nesvold handled the ball 11 times with three of those shots on goal. New Ulm had 18 shots on goal of its own.

New Ulm’s next contest is Monday at home against St. Peter.

Boys’ soccer

New Ulm 6, Jordan 1

JORDAN — New Ulm downed Jordan 6-1 on Saturday in nonconference boys’ soccer action.

No stats were reported by New Ulm.

Prep volleyball

Eagles go 1-3 at JCC

Tournament Saturday

JACKSON — The New Ulm volleyball team went 1-3 at the Jackson County Central Tournament on Saturday.

Natalie Yackley had 11 kills, 32 set assists and 12 digs on Saturday, while Nora Windschill had 17 kills and 13 digs. Also for New Ulm, Talya Hoel had 14 kills, 25 set assists, 14 digs and two blocks, Emmy Munson had nine kills and five blocks, Ally Steffensmeier had 10 kills and 11 digs, Nicole Albrecht had 12 kills, Riley Melby had 10 kills and Caitlyn Todesco had nine digs.

New Ulm (5-3) is at Fairmont on Tuesday night.

Wabasso goes 0-4 at Wabasso

Tournament Saturday

WABASSO — Wabasso hosted the Wabasso Tournament this past Saturday, going 0-4 in the Trixie Division (Silver).

The Thumper (Gold) Division was the upper division and was won by MACCRAY, while the Trixie Division was won by Central Minnesota Christian.

Redwood Valley first defeated Wabasso 25-16, 25-22, while Southwest Minnesota Christian next defeated Wabasso 25-16, 25-10. MACCRAY then topped Wabasso 25-21, 25-15 before Central Minnesota Christian defeated Wabasso 25-19, 26-28 and won by a tiebreaker.

No stats were reported by Wabasso.

Cedar Mountain goes 0-4 at Maple River

Invite Saturday

MAPLETON — Cedar Mountain dropped four matches at the Maple River Invite on Saturday.

Granada Huntley-East Chain/Martin Luther/Truman defeated the Cougars first 25-23, 15-25, 15-12 before Maple RIver topped the Cougars 27-29, 25-16, 15-11. St. James then defeated the Cougars 23-25, 25-16, 15-8 before Sibley East beat the Cougars 24-26, 25-18 in a tiebreaker.

Shaylee Schiller had 60 total digs for the Cougars on Saturday, while Morgan Engholm had 69 total digs. Nadia Meyers had 52 total set assists for the Cougars, while Teresa Larson had 11 kills and 34 digs and Hailey Hollar had 13 kills and 25 digs.
