Prep roundup: Eagle girls’ soccer team crushes Loyola, GFW, New Ulm volleyball teams win

MANKATO — New Ulm shut out Mankato Loyola on Tuesday in a nonconference girls’ soccer match.

Bryn Nesvold led the Eagles with four goals and two assists. Bekah Friendshuh added two goals with two assists.

Alexis Rustin, Kaye Rysdahl, Madison Roufs, Livia Reinarts, Paige Frederick, Paige Kalis, and Malia Wagner also had one goal each. Kalis had three assists, Hannah Osborne had three assists and Mia Johnson had one assist.

New Ulm (4-1-1) will host Mankato East on Thursday.

Prep volleyball

GFW 3, LP/HT 0

WINTHROP — Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop defeated Lester Prairie/Holy Trinity on Tuesday 25-11, 25-16, 25-17 in a nonconference volleyball match.

Shelby Ramirez led GFW with 12 kills. Hannah Thorsen had 11 set assists and nine digs. Kaity Lee and Hannah Panitzke each added 13 digs.

GFW will host Springfield on Thursday.

New Ulm 3, St. Peter 2

ST. PETER — New Ulm edged St. Peter 9-25, 18-25, 25-18, 25-22, 15-13 on Tuesday in a Big South Conference volleyball match.

Natalie Yackley had 18 set assists and seven digs. Nora Windschill added 12 kills and 12 digs, Ally Steffensmeier had 11 digs with four kills and Caitlyn Todesco had 13 digs. Talya Hoel added 16 set assists with 12 digs. Nicole Albrecht had 12 digs.

New Ulm (3-2) will travel to St. James on Thursday.

LCWM 3, Madelia 1

LAKE CRYSTAL — Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial defeated Madelia 25-13, 27-25, 23-25, 25-17 on Tuesday in a Valley Conference volleyball match.

Emily Stevenson led Madelia with 27 set assists. Brooke Lensing had 16 kills. Lillian Maul and Maria Schwanke each added 10 digs.

Madelia (0-8, 0-1) will travel to Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton on Thursday.

RRC 3, CM 0

LAMBERTON — Red Rock Central swept Cedar Mountain 25-23, 25-5, 25-8 on Tuesday in a nonconference volleyball match.

Shaylee Schiller led CM with 18 digs while Morgan Engholm added 16 digs. Hailey Hollar and Mykenna Vollmer each had 11 digs. Nadia Meyers had 11 set assists.

CM (2-2) will host New Ulm Cathedral on Thursday.

NEW ULM — St. Peter defeated New Ulm in a Big South Conference girls’ tennis match on Tuesday.

New Ulm hosts Fairmont on Thursday.
