NEW ULM — Tracy-Milroy-Balaton quarterback Sawyer Otto ran for a touchdown and passed for another as the Panthers downed New Ulm Cathedral 24-22 in a Southwest East Division game at Johnson Field Friday night.

Otto ran for an 8-yard touchdown in the first quarter and then connected with Lucas Gervais on a 6-yard scoring strike midway through the third quarter. That came just eight plays after Tony Geiger broke loose for a 45-yard touchdown run that had given the Greyhounds a 22-16 lead.

Geiger added a 24-yard touchdown run to his game resume with tight end Chris Knowles latching onto a 6-yard touchdown pass from quarterback James Gillis.

“We fought to the end but it just came down to a few plays here and there,” Cathedral coach Denny Lux said. “Our guys had the effort again tonight but it did not bounce our way.”

For the night, Geiger carried the ball 20 times for 157 yards and two touchdowns. Chris Knowles added three catches for 69 yards and one touchdown.
