Steel hockey training camp starts on Friday

NEW ULM — Those looking to get their hockey fix can get it this weekend at the New Ulm Civic Center.

And there is no admission for this weekend.

The New Ulm Steel NA3HL team as well as the Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin Steel, an NAHL team, will have training camp beginning Friday and ending Saturday night with a scrimmage.

On Friday from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m., the No. 1 Steel team will be on ice with the No. 1 Chippewa Falls team.

From 1:45 p.m. until 2:45 p.m., the No. 2 squads from both teams will be on ice.

Teams will then break for workouts and dinner before returning to the ice from 6:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.

Teams come back at 9:30 a.m Saturday until 11:45 a.m.

After off-ice workouts, the teams will return to the ice from 4 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. for a scrimmage.

Season tickets for the upcoming year can also be purchased during the training camp. Cost is $169 for a season pass. Seniors are $149 with youth $89. There is also a 10-game flex package for $85.

The Steel begin their daily practices on Thursday, Sept. 5.

They open their 2019-20 season on September 14 at Granite City. Their first home games are on Thursday, October 17 and Friday, October 18 when they host Alexandria and Coulee Region respectively.
