Prep roundup: Minneapolis Southwest sneaks past Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s, Eagles go 3-0 at West tournament
MINNEAPOLIS — Minneapolis Southwest took advantage of three Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s errors and defeated the Knights 4-3 in a nonconference baseball game on Saturday.
Dallas Bauer took the hard-luck loss for the Knights. He gave up four runs on five hits and none of the runs allowed were earned. He struck out four.
Dominic Helget was 2 for 3 and Carson Domeier was 1 for 2 with an RBI for the Knights.
St. Mary’s (9-10) plays at Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Martin Luther/Truman on Tuesday in Truman.

New Ulm goes 3-0 at Mankato West

NORTH MANKATO — New Ulm went 3-0 at the Mankato West tournament on Saturday.
New Ulm defeated New Prague 4-1 in the first game.
Ashlyn Donner pitched all seven innings, giving up five hits, one run, no walks and she had 17 strikeouts.
Carli Botten was 2 for 4 with one run scored one RBI and a stolen base
Ellie Bute was 1 for 2 with one RBI, a double and a sacrifice bunt.
In the second game, New Ulm defeated Burnsville 16-1 in four innings. Donner pitched two innings, had three strikeouts and didn’t allow a hit or a walk.
Miranda Suess pitched two innings, giving up three hits and one unearned run with no walks.
Abbey Lee was 3 for 3 with two runs scored and four RBIs. Nora Windschill was 2 for 3 with four RBIs.
In the third game, the Eagles beat Apple Valley 7-1.
Donner pitched all seven innings, giving up one hit, one run, and she had 17 strikeouts.
Joey Batt was 2 for 4 with two runs scored and 2 stolen bases.
Ellie Bute was 1 for 2 with a run scored, an RBI and a walk.
The Eagles are 17-1 and will start Section 2AAA tournament play on Thursday at Caswell Park.
