MVL girls win Maple River meet

MAPLETON — The Minnesota Valley Lutheran girls’ track and field team took first place at the Maple River Invite on Tuesday with a team score of 155.5.

The MVL boys finished fourth with 70 points.

On the girls’ side, Kaylee Hunter won the long jump with a mark of 14 feet, 11 3/4 inches and the triple jump (31-4). Mara Weisensel won the discus (93 feet) with a personal record. She also won the 100-meter hurdles (17.4 seconds).

The MVL 4×100-meter relay team of Lexi Fosburgh, Anna Schwartz, Kendra Lyimo and Hannah Marzinske took first in 54.43 and the 4×200-meter relay team of Marzinske, Hunter, Lyimo and Livia Reinarts took first in 1 minute, 56 seconds. The 4×400-relay team of Abby Nelson, Naomi Anderson, Nicole Porter and Emma Nelson took first (4:30).

Fosburgh took second in the 100-meter dash (12.99) and the 200-meter dash (28.16). Clare Fischer was second in the 3,200-meter run (13:19) and Emma Nelson was second in the 300-hurdles (51.1).

Abby Nelson finished second in the discus (91-6), second in the 800-meter run (2:33) and second in the 1,600-meter run (5:40). Marzinske was second in the triple jump (31-1 1/4).

On the boys’ side, Izayah Harrison won the 100 (11.49) and Nate Fliszar won the 3,200 (11:47). The 4×100-meter relay team of Carlos Ramirez, Christian Edwards, Sam Muske and Joey Goeglin took first in 47.41. Zach Helget finished second in the 100 with a PR time of 11.88.
