MLC’s Anna Hemmelman named to UMAC All-Decade Team

NEW ULM — Martin Luther College junior Anna Hemmelman was named to the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Women’s Tennis All-Decade Team on Thursday.

Hemmelman made the most of those two seasons, earning two All-UMAC awards and winning UMAC Women’s Tennis Player of the Year honors in 2018.

In 2018, Hemmelman finished her became the first MLC player to go unbeaten with UMAC play with a perfect 7-0 record in No. 1 singles. She finished the season 13-3 overall in singles play and recorded 11 straight wins after a 2-3 start.

In her first season in 2017, Hemmelman was named All-UMAC thanks to a 6-4 record in No. 1 singles.

While this season did not weigh into the voting for the All-Decade Team, Hemmelman has continued her stellar play with an 11-4 record in No. 1 singles, including a 4-1 record in league play.
