Josh Koelpin honored by UMAC
NEW ULM — Martin Luther College senior student-athlete Josh Koelpin was named the male recipient of the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference Scholar-Athlete Leadership Award on Wednesday.
The award looks to celebrate the leadership qualities of one male and one female student-athlete among all nine schools in the UMAC based on their excellence in the classroom and their service in the community.
Koelpin is a four-year letter winner in both soccer and tennis, and earned All-UMAC honors in both sports. He is also served as a captain in both sports and has seven Academic All-UMAC honors in his career.
In the community, the future pastor has taken mission trips to Mexico and Puerto Rico, while also assisting a Spanish-speaking ministry in St. Peter. Koelpin has also served a variety of leadership roles on the campus of MLC to help organize and motivate pre-Seminary students, among numerous other efforts on the campus community. Koelpin also worked as a voice of the school’s KnightVision live sports broadcast as an announcer for four years.
Koelpin is the fourth MLC student-athlete to win the award since its first honor in 2008, joining Nathan Nass (2008), April Cook (2011), and Kira Grev (2018).
