MLC’s Unke honored by UMAC

NEW ULM — Jim Unke, Martin Luther College’s Director of Athletics, was honored by the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference with a UMAC 10-Year Service Award.

Before the conference became a NCAA Division III member conference, Unke helped lead the UMAC when he volunteered his time as the conference’s Commissioner. During that time, he had additional responsibilities as Director of Athletics, head basketball coach and professor at MLC.

The former 19-year head coach of the MLC men’s basketball team also became the first chair of the UMAC AD Council following the hiring of Corey Borchardt as Commissioner.

The UMAC 10-Year Service Award honorees will be recognized in person this coming Monday at MLC in conjunction with conference governance meetings.
