Fink, Scheffler, Helget highlight All-Journal offense

Isaac Fink, WR/RB, Springfield, Sr.
Fink, a first-team All-District player this year, led the Tigers with 63 receptions for 1,118 yards and 16 touchdowns while rushing for 211 yards on 27 carries in the playoffs. He also had four rushing TDs as a team captain and helped lead the Tigers to the state tournament, where they fell in the semifinals. Fink was unable to play in the semifinals due to a concussion.
Springfield offensive coordinator Adam Meyer said that Fink was not only a focal point of the defense, he also consistently faced double teams on offense. Fink threw, ran and caught a TD pass in the Tigers’ state quarterfinal win this season.
Fink will play basketball and baseball next year at the University of Augustana.
Decker Scheffler, QB, Springfield, Jr.
Scheffler was an All-District player this year and helped lead the Tigers to the state tournament. He had 172 completions for 2,427 yards and 24 passing touchdowns. He also rushed 62 times for 713 yards and six TDs. Springfield head coach Bob Fink said that Scheffler was a great athlete with a big-time arm that did a great job of leading the 23.8 points per game Tigers.
Zach Helget, RB, Cathedral, Sr.
An All-District player this year, Helget carried the ball 172 times for 1,536 yards (8.9 YPC) and 23 touchdowns. He also had a kick return average of 22 yards per return.
Helget added a kick return for a TD and four catches for 53 yards. He set a school record this season for all-purpose yards in a single game with 340.
Matt Munsen, QB, MVL, Sr.
Munsen, an All-District player this season, finished his final season with the Chargers with 1,837 passing yards and 17 touchdowns on 126 completions. He also ran for 810 yards and six TDs on 108 carries.
He finishes his career at MVL with 4,337 total yards and 40 total TDs.
Landon Strong, RB, Sleepy Eye, Sr.
Strong, an All-District player this year, finished this year with 148 carries for 1,229 yards and 11 touchdowns. He also had a passing touchdown this season and 88 yards receiving. For his career, Strong finishes with 3,119 yards rushing and 34 TDs (No. 1 all-time record for Sleepy Eye in rushing yards and TDs) He also ends his career with 464 yards receiving and four TD receptions.
Strong was heavily recruited to play football by many DII schools and even a few DI schools, but he has a verbal commitment with MSU-Mankato to play football for the Mavericks next year.
Eli Samuelson, QB, CM/C, Sr.
Samuelson, a senior captain for the Cougars, threw for 1,142 yards and 16 touchdowns on 85-for-174 passing this year. He set a school record with five TD passes in one game against HLO/Fulda this year. Samuelson also rushed for a school record 1,198 yards on 149 carries and set another school record in rushing TDs with 14.
He set the school record for rushing yards in a game twice this year with 221 yards against Russell-Tyler-Ruthton and again against Minnesota Valley Lutheran in the Section 3A playoffs. A three-year starter at quarterback for the Cougars, Samuelson led the Cougars to a 3-6 record with four losses being by 6 points or less. He ends his career with 3,518 passing yards and 38 TDs through the air.
Jake Kettner, WR, MVL, Sr.
Kettner, an All-District selection, had 47 catches for the Chargers this year for 797 yards and 12 touchdowns. He also returned a kick for a TD and ends his career at MVL with 108 catches for 1,617 yards and 15 TDs. He finishes his career Top 3 in 10 individual receiving categories at MVL for single-season and career totals. He will attend the University of Sioux Falls next season to play basketball.
Jancarlo Munoz, RB, GFW, Sr.
Munoz finished his senior year with 1,131 yards and 13 TDs on 123 carries (9.2 ypc). The senior helped lead GFW to a turnaround 5-5 finish this season and a playoff win over St. James Area.
Jacob Berg, FB, Sleepy Eye, Sr.
The 230-pound true fullback was an All-District player this season and a four-year letter winner for the Indians. Berg had 782 yards on 139 carries this year and seven TDs on the ground while also catching 10 passes for 121 yards and a TD. For his career, Berg has nearly 1,500 rushing yards and 14 TDs.
Jon Mans, QB, Nicollet, Jr.
Mans was 163-for-283 passing this year for 1,858 yards, 20 TDs and 17 interceptions. He had 120 carries for 339 yards and five TDs also for the Raiders. Mans was a letter winner for the Raiders.
Josh Chadderdon, WR, Nicollet, Sr.
Chadderdon, a three-year starter and letter winner for the Raiders, finished his senior season with 40 catches for 614 yards and seven TDs. He finished his career with 80 catches for 1,376 yards and 17 TDs. Chadderdon was also a letter winner for the Raiders.
