Power Points football contest

The Journal, along with dozens of other newspapers around the country, will carry this year’s POWER POINTS Football Contest, a weekly reader game featuring a national grand prize of up to $1,000 weekly. In addition, The Journal will provide a local prize of $10 chamber bucks to the local winner each week.

The entry form will appear in the newspaper weekly and run for 17 weeks. Full rules accompany the entry form.

Unlike the traditional newspaper football contest, POWER POINTS asks readers not only to select winners from the weekly games but also to RANK their winners along a weighted, 16-point line, your least sure pick goes on the 1-point line. The points add up to 136. The contestant from the participating newspapers who tallies the most of those 136 wins the grand prize. The person locally who tallies the most of those 136 wins the local prize.

The contest will appear each Tuesday and the deadline for contestant entry is 2 p.m. on Thursdays, except for Thanksgiving week when it will be Wednesday. Enter the contest by dropping off the form on Page 2B or mailing it to: The Journal, 303 North Minnesota Street, New Ulm, Mn. 56073.
