Arndt honored by UMAC in football

NEW ULM — Martin Luther College senior wide receiver Josh Arndt was named Upper Midwest Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week on Monday.

Arndt earned the honor after catching five passes for 120 yards in Saturday’s 28-24 win over Rockford University. Among those five receptions was the 68-yard game-winning score with only 53 seconds to play in the game.

This marks the second time in Arndt’s career that he won conference Offensive Player of the Week honors. He earned the award last season after a three-touchdown effort against Greenville.

Arndt has been a big-play receiver from the start of his career and currently ranks first in program history with an average of 21.3 yards per reception for his career. He also ranks third in program history in touchdown receptions (19) and fourth in career receiving yards (1,683).

Arndt and the Knights enter the bye week with a 1-1 record. MLC will return to action for the start of UMAC play on Sept. 22 at Greenville.
