Tomahawk East team wins marathon All-Star game

MILROY — The Tomahawk East All-Star team defeated the Corn Belt All-Star team 4-3 on Friday night in 12 innings of amateur baseball action.

The Corn Belt took an early 3-0 lead after two runs in the third and a run in the fifth. In the top of the seventh, Springfield’s Branden Flock had a double to get the Tomahawk East team on the board. Leavenworth’s Jevan Richert then came through with a two-out, two-run single to tie the game at three apiece.

In the top of the 12th, the Corn Belt’s fifth error of the game allowed Lamberton’s Neil Eichten to reach base and Essig’s Ben Wolf to score the final run.

Wade French of New Ulm got the win for the Tomahawk East team with two innings of work, two strikeouts and one hit allowed.

With the win, the Tomahawk East League will host the Corn Belt in the 2019 All-Star Game.
