Prep volleyball: Cathedral sweeps Sleepy Eye

NEW ULM — New Ulm Cathedral swept Sleepy Eye 25-20, 25-14, 25-8 in Tomahawk Conference volleyball on Thursday.

Jenna Helget had 25 set assists and three blocks for Cathedral. Rose Hazuka had 12 kills and Kirsten Spaude had 15 digs.

McKenzie Cselovszki had 7 kills and Madi Heiderscheidt had 10 digs and 5 kills for Sleepy Eye. Madi Krueger finished with 10 digs.

Sleepy Eye plays St. Clair on Monday and Cathedral (13-11, 3-5) is at Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s on Tuesday.

Wabasso 3, GFW 0

WABASSO — Wabasso swept Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop 25-12, 25-18, 25-7 in Tomahawk Conference volleyball action on Thursday. With the win, the Rabbits clinched the conference title.

Maddy Guetter led Wabasso with 18 kills and 21 digs. Gina Goblirsch had 10 kills and Megan Rothmeier had 11 digs. Jenna Frank had 35 set assists.

GFW was led by Megan Palmer’s 7 kills and 6 digs. Jordan Rettig had 8 set assists and Erin Haas had 7 set assists

Wabasso (22-4, 8-0) is at Russell-Tyler-Ruthton on Monday.

GFW (12-14, 5-3) is at Redwood Valley on Monday.

Redwood Valley 3, Springfield 2

SPRINGFIELD — Redwood Valley came from behind to defeat Springfield 20-25, 25-17, 21-25, 25-19, 15-9 in nonconference volleyball on Thursday.

For the Tigers, Katelyn Hauth had 10 kills and six blocks. Brittany Rogotzke had 30 digs and Brandi Platz had 21 digs. Katelynn Clemon had six kills.

Springfield (1-26) hosts Mountain Lake Area on Tuesday.

MLA 3, Madelia 2

MOUNTAIN LAKE — Mountain Lake Area defeated Madelia 25-21, 25-20, 15-25, 19-25, 15-13 in nonconference volleyball on Thursday.

Alayna DeLaCruz had 13 kills for Madelia and Steph Sotelo had 13 digs. Briana Ardolf finished with 21 digs.

Madelia (10-17, 2-5 in the Valley Conference) is at Lake Crystal/Wellcome-Memorial on Tuesday.
