Prep roundup: Chargers sweep Tigers, Knights win

MVL 3, Springfield 0

SPRINGFIELD — Minnesota Valley Lutheran swept Springfield 25-22, 25-17, 25-14 on Thursday in a Tomahawk Conference volleyball match.

Brittany Rogotzke had 18 digs and Eva Mark added 14 digs and eight set assists for Springfield. Arynzi Rabb had eight set assists.

For MVL, Maddie Pearson had 19 set assists and Mackenzie Helget had 14 set assists. Hannah Marzinske had 15 digs and Mara Weisensel had 14 kills and five blocks. Haley Birkholz had nine kills and four blocks.

Springfield (0-18, 0-6) will host Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart on Tuesday.

MVL (6-6, 2-2 will host Madelia (9-9, 2-2) on Monday.

St. Peter 3, New Ulm 0

ST. PETER — St. Peter defeated New Ulm 25-18, 25-10, 25-7 in a Big South conference volleyball game on Thursday.

New Ulm was led by Sarah Longtin who had eight digs, Ellie Bute who had nine set assists, Olivia Wick who had five kills, and Nora Windschill who had four kills.

New Ulm plays at St. James on Tuesday at 7:15 p.m. St. Peter hosts Blue Earth Area on Thursday.

St. Mary’s 3, GFW 1

FAIRFAX — Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s defeated Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop 18-25, 25-22, 26-24, 25-22.

Ali Beltz had 19 kills and 17 digs. Mal Helget had 10 kills and four digs and Jody Hansen had 42 set assists and 17 digs and five kills and Dani Weiss had 33 digs.

For GFW, Katelynn Firle had 13 kills and Megan Palmer had 12 kills and 15 digs. Maddy Elder had seven kills and Jordan Rettig had 38 set assists. Miah Busse finished with 14 digs.

St. Clair 3, Madelia 0

ST. CLAIR — St. Clair swept Madelia 25-22, 25-15, 25-22 on Thursday in a Valley Conference volleyball match.

Lizzie Cooling led Madelia with 37 set assists and 17 digs. Briana Ardolf and Stef Sotelo each added 11 digs. Alayna DeLaCruz had 11 kills.

Madelia (9-10, 2-3) will travel to Minnesota Valley Lutheran on Monday.

Nicollet 3, LCWM 0

NICOLLET — Nicollet defeated Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial 25-13, 25-22, 25-7 on Thursday in a Valley Conference volleyball match.

Nicole Hall had 23 set assists for Nicollet. Halley Johnson added 19 digs and Lindsey Boerger had 20 attacks, 14 digs and eight kills. Brook Skrien had 18 attacks and seven kills.

Nicollet ( 6-9, 3-2) will host the Nicollet Invitational Tournament on Saturday.

Girls’ soccer

St. Peter 3, New Ulm 0

ST. PETER — St. Peter beat New Ulm 3-0 on Thursday in a Big South conference girls’ soccer game.

New Ulm’s goalkeeper Caleigh Heck had 10 saves.

New Ulm plays in Worthington at 1 p.m. on Saturday. St. Peter hosts Worthington on Tuesday.
