NEW ULM — When a team has as many hits in a game was it has errors, chances are it is not going to win.

New Ulm Legion Blue collected eight hits but was also guilty of eight errors that led to nine unearned runs as Mankato American rolled to a 15-3 seven-inning win on Thursday at Mueller Park.

Max Sennet got the win for American.

Tyler Walls took the loss for Blue.

Mankato out-hit New Um 9-8 in the game.

Hawika Hoshimoto had three hits for Mankato.

Walls and Jack Fairbairn each had two of New Ullm’s hits.

Mankato scored two unearned runs in the first inning on a New Ulm error and then added three more runs in the third aided by three more errors and just one hit.

New Ulm scored twice in the third on an error and a Fairbairn RBI single.

American added a run in the fourth on one error and no hits before scoring four runs in the fifth on two hits and two more errors.

New Ulm scored its last run of the game in the bottom of the fifth on singles from Walls and Fairbairn.

Mankato then salted the game away with five runs in the sixth on two hits and and two errors.
