New Ulm 8, Owatonna 2

OWATONNA — New Ulm defeated Owatonna in a nonconference baseball game on Monday.

Cole Wellmann was 2 for 2 with a grand slam and five RBIs. Andrew Peters also had two RBIs for the Eagles and Bayler Kraus was 2 for 4 with a double.

Brandon Mehlhop earned the win. He went five innings and allowed four hits. He allowed two runs, struck out two and walked four. Luke Scheid pitched two innings and didn’t allow a hit.

New Ulm opens Section 2AAA playoff action later this week.

Cleveland 13, Nicollet 9

NICOLLET — Cleveland defeated Nicollet in a Valley Conference baseball game on Monday.

Riley Hulke took the loss, pitching 5 1/3 innings, giving up nine runs, six hits and three walks. He also hit three batters.

Hunter Johnson went 3 for 5 with a double and Ean Thomsen went 2 for 5 with a double.

Nicollet finishes its regular season with a 2-14 record. Its next game will be on Thursday against an opponent to be determined.

Eagle girls 7th at Big South meet

WORTHINGTON — New Ulm finished seventh at the Big South Conference meet on Monday with a 416.. Abbey Frauenholtz was All-Conference and she led the Eagles with an 87. Izzie Wolkow shot a 101, Makena Otto shot a 109 and Lucy Sletta shot a 119.

Marshall won the meet with a 344.
