NEW ULM — New Ulm Area went 1-2 on Thursday at its quadrangular.

New Ulm defeated Madelia-Truman/Martin Luther 60-16 in the first match  and followed it with a 47-25 loss to Tracy-Milroy-Balaton and a 48-9 loss to St. Peter in the finale.

The first duel saw the Eagles have no problem with the Jayhawks. New Ulm Area picked up seven wins via forfeit and two more victories via pin. The Eagles got pins from Jackson Bode at 103, Hunter Ranweiler at 145 and Lane Miller at 152.

Gach Mar picked up a major decision at 120 for M-T/ML and Jordan Osborne earned a pin in 46 seconds for the Jayhawks at 195. Derek Firchau also earned a pin to close out the match at heavyweight when he pinned Colby Wenninger in 35 seconds.

New Ulm Area had a strong second match, but the Eagles weren’t able to pick up a victory in the decisive final three bouts in the match.

Once again, the early and middle matches were big for the Eagles as they were competitive.

Bode earned a pin at 106 to start the match and Wacker earned a major decision at 132 (11-1 victory against Tyler Vandendriessche). Sean Howk pinned Anthony Axford in 1:38 and Hunter Ranwieiler pinned Jake Byrne at 145.

In the final match of the night, St. Peter defeated New Ulm 48-9. New Ulm got its lone victories at 138 when Sean Howk earned a 1-0 decision against Matthew Pettis, Hunter Ranweiler picked up a 4-0 decision at 144 and Noah Lindscheid earned a 3-2 decision at 220 against Jacob Pehrson.
