Wendinger for mayor

To the editor: As previous mayor, elected by the people, for over 10 years, Bob knows what it takes to hold that position. It takes dignity, integrity, honesty, respect and a sense of humor doesn’t hurt. We have known Ron Wendinger for over 40 years and find he is an example of each of these qualities. He will listen to the people and help settle disputes. He will attend commission meetings so he knows what is happening in the city and therefore be able to answer questions from the people of New Ulm. Ron will represent our city with dignity and be a warming humble mayor with ...

Support Chadderdon for Sheriff

To the editor: I am writing this letter in support of Marc Chadderdon for Nicollet County Sheriff. I voted for Dave Lange when he first ran 20 years ago but as times change and new ideas are brought up it is time for the changing of the guard. As former Mayor of Nicollet I had the opportunity to work with both Candidates. They both have some outstanding qualities but I have always believed in term limits for elected officials. With that being said I believe Marc Chadderdon brings new ideas and enthusiasm for this position. The expectation of the Sheriff is different than it was 10-20 ...

Election deniers dangerous to democracy

To the editor: As a nation we are divided on many issues - abortion, guns, and immigration to name a few. But there is something on the ballot this year that should be a priority when we vote - and that I’m sorry to say is democracy itself. The right to vote and the obligation to accept the results of elections are being challenged by one of the major political parties under the guise of “election integrity.” Accusations of “massive fraud” in our elections have not held up but that hasn’t stopped candidates from advocating new laws to make it harder to vote and easier to ...

Scott Jensen misinformed

To the editor: I believe Dr. Scott Jensen is misinformed. Kids are not taken out of elementary schools. Lafayette had an elementary school for about 20 years. Now there are not enough students so they are being bused to New Ulm schools. Certainly they are learning to read, write and do arithmetic. One of my neighbors has an electric car and he has source of a charging station. One of my daughters works with the elderly in nursing homes and also some in their own apartments. They have loving and excellent care. Joyce Reese Lafayette

New Ulm schools should be for everyone

To the editor: My name is David Rysdahl, and my brothers and I are writing this letter out of a deep concern over statements made by a few candidates for school board. One of these candidates is our mother. We love our mother, and publicly opposing her is painful for both sides, but we are doing what she always taught us to do: stand up for what we believe in. In that spirit, we are writing this letter out of solidarity for our LGBTQ friends, family, and colleagues, and we are writing this letter out of the ardent desire to live in a culture that embraces the freedom of everyone to ...

COVID and Ivermectin

To the editor: “… Could have ended the Covid pandemic” The mention of Ivermectin, together with the comment, “I am not a horse,” in the Oct. 20th letter written in support of Walz brought a lot to mind. A manufactured report about Ivermectin overdoses in Oklahoma, overwhelmed hospitals, and gunshot victims left waiting was posted by Rolling Stone on Sept. 3, 2021. One observer aptly observed of the spread of this report: “So our approved sources of information spread disinformation, and when we try to tell the truth, we have to worry about being deplatformed.” (The ...
