America is in crisis

To the editor: America has been in many crisis, the Revolutionary war, WW1, Pearl Harbor, WWll, Viet Nam war, 9-11 crisis, the Iraq war, Afghanistan war and now America is involved in the Ukrainian war and we have billions of dollars spent in the Ukrainian war. This time its with people within the United States that are causing the crisis. We have the open borders crisis, people just walking across our border and entering the US illegally. Minnesota government goes too far with legislation

To the editor Our Minnesota State Legislative session has ended and Gov. (Tim) Walz has called it the most productive session since the Minnesota Miracle. My view. I respectfully disagree and I will address only three issues from the last session at this time. These are my views and I will not apologize for them. #1 Minnesota as a sanctuary state for abortion. I am staunchly pro-life. To keep abortion in place up to delivery time is horrendous. As has been suggested to have mobile abortion clinics near state boundaries are what I call butcher shops. There is only one thing they ...

Reception in park for Barb Haroldson

To the Editor This past March we lost a community member who meant so much to so many. Words like generous, caring, funny, friendly are just some words to describe her personality. She loved her children and grandson like no other. Barb Haroldson passed on March 23, 2023. She loved New Ulm and helped with many projects to make this city better. Barb did not want a fuss made about her passing; she made that clear. In honoring her request, a simple “reception in the park” will be held on July 9, from 2-4 p.m. in German Park shelter. Stop down and reminisce, share a story or ...

Having looked over Minnesota K-12 Academic Standards in Science, I was wondering what they presented as proof for evolution in benchmark 9L.4.1.1.3; specifically item 2 which says changes in environmental conditions may result in: “the emergence of new species over ...

In response to the hateful Pride Month letter

To the editor: It’s time to check the facts. The LBGTQIA+ community is not pushing their agenda with a new month. Pride month was established in 1999, not after the marriage amendment was passed in 2013. More importantly, it was used to help a community be seen, heard, and protected. In 1998, Matthew Shepard was brutally beaten, tied up in a field, and left to die, all because he was gay. Your hateful agenda is what made those kids feel like that was OK to do. As you proclaim that every life matters, then why are you not fighting for the most marginalized of our communities? Making ...
