To the editor: At the New Ulm Diocese Council of Catholic Women convention, U.S. Rep (Brad) Finstad eloquently shared how his faith guides his desire to engage in politics. Curious to further my own knowledge of this, I started with Bishop Robert Barron who reminds us doctrine is difficult to apply to political parties or legislation. To the editor: It’s a mess. It gets worse every year. Noxious weeds are spreading throughout our city. If you search for Brown County Minnesota noxious weeds you will find some excellent information and links about noxious weeds. A contact person for the county is listed. It also states that the city mayor is its weed inspector. Furthermore, it states that the mayor may appoint someone to serve as city weed inspector. Dahms deserves better

To the editor: I am writing to say that I am very disappointed by the conduct of some of the attendees at the recent Gary Dahms legislative town hall meeting in New Ulm. Some of the attendees treated a duly elected state senator with a lack of respect and courtesy. Perhaps some of them should also learn the difference between an elected state senator and an elected federal senator. Time for Finstad to represent us

To the editor: The president has asked us to be patient through “a little rough patch of economic adjustment.” I’m wondering what that “little rough patch” means to him and his billionaire friends. Let’s imagine that it means everyone loses something equally, say 10%. When a billionaire loses 10%, instead of $10 billion he has only $9 billion. When your grandma’s nursing home loses 10% (see “Medicaid cuts in Republican tax bill”), it closes. To the editor: Let’s examine the Republicans Budget Proposal championed by Donald Trump. The Congressional Budget Office estimates that the results will result in at least 13.7 million more uninsured people in the year 2034 than would otherwise be the case including 1.8 million more uninsured from changes to the ACA marketplaces; 7.7 million more uninsured resulting from a combination of Medicaid and other ACA changes; and 4.2 million more uninsured with expiration of the enhanced premium tax credits.
